This weekend Bruce and I took our nephews to the Telus Science Centre to see 'Art of the Brick', the Lego exhibit. It cost me $50 for admission!!! No wonder families are smaller these days; who can afford one?! That's the first sign I noticed that I was older - I never used to care how much things cost. We were getting ready to leave and Evan asked if we could grab a drink and I said sure but we'd get it from 7-Eleven cuz it'd be cheaper! My second sign or is that just being fiscally aware? Dunno.
This morning I went to church as usual. Mom and Dad are looking after the boys while their parents are on vacation so I sat with them. I found myself shooting 'mom' looks their way when they were starting to slouch and yawn. I noticed that my patience is very short around them. Maybe it's just because I don't see them everyday so I'm not used to them or maybe it's another sign I'm getting older. Damn, when did this happen?!
Update on my second last post. I tried my hand at sketching like I said I would. I'm a little rusty but if I keep at it I'm sure I'll start to remember how to do it. But with being old comes cynicism. I see everything wrong with every pencil stroke...I doubt everything I do on paper. It never used to be that way. I used to look at my stuff and think that I was a genius! Well, not quite but I never second guessed anything. It just seems like there's always somebody out there who's better at everything I try. Maybe this week's goal should be practicing positive self talk! Is that a lame goal for the week? Ok, how about this...I'll practice positive self talk and I'll aim to pack up another three boxes of stuff for when we get our house painted. That's a deal. But first I need a nap!
